Here is my newest treasure and maybe some divine intervention.
This box is filled with everything related to my book and Keveen. Manuscripts, our first photo (a Polaroid of us snuggled together on Melissa's couch), his letters to me, different versions and sizes of the book, and sweet cards of love from those who attended my book release at the Princess Cinema in Uptown Waterloo many years ago.
Well, I have not gone through this box since I filled it...until last night.
Last night I opened it up specifically to look for an enormous paper roll letter that Keveen spent months filling with words for me (a gift I received minutes before I left for my very first DIVA class graduation), and for whatever reason, I decided to read through our original emails that I had bound in print (and thank goodness I did because I’ve been locked out of my old hotmail account for years now and that’s where all our old emails live), only to find sweet and tender emails I did not even include in the original book - or this version obviously.
It felt like Christmas! So I marked in red, every page that included something worth adding to the new book, and there was plenty.
I have no idea why I left certain pieces out of the book at the time. Maybe I was too shy with some parts? I assume so. They're pretty bold for me to share publicly. While I do share almost everything with the world, I typically draw the line with things related to sexuality. Regardless, there will be a few new emails included in the anniversary edition and they only add to the beauty, vulnerability and yumminess of this piece.
And why I think this might be divine intervention is that the print cover issue has been putting the book on hold for a few weeks now, and since I have to wait until Friday for the next proof to come, that gives me plenty of time to add in the new parts and then I can upload the newest version in just one click!
When I moved to Montreal I had no plans to redo the book for a 10 year anniversary, and thus no reason to bring this box of treasures along until recently. I brought this box home with me after my last visit home to Ontario in October, since it had been packed away with my things at Jolene’s and Omar’s.
I looked through this box only after I felt my book was complete. I wasn’t looking for the manuscript to see if I missed anything. I was looking for the fun letter roll that Keveen had sent me and then I started reading the manuscript for nostalgia’s sake.
And now I have an even jucier new book.
Meant to be? I think so. I’d like to think that my beloved book was holding things off until I found these additional treasures.
Only 4 more sleeps until I find out if the colour issue has been corrected on the cover. Until then I’ll be working on my little slice of heaven, making it even more delicious than it already was.
