Oh, you know...JUST PREPARING MY ONLINE STORE FOR THE REBIRTH OF P&B!!!
I swear I've spent more time on the anniversary edition than I did on the original because this time around I did all my own editing and formatting and not just for print, but also for ePub and for PDF and each format requires something different.
I learned so much over the past 6 months and made oodles of mistakes along the way - like deleting my entire ePub file without having saved it anywhere, so I had to reformat the entire thing a second time. I'm smarter now and I save EVERYTHING. EVERYWHERE.
And for anything I couldn't do on my own because I lacked the proper skills or knowledge, Yain was there to save the day EVERY SINGLE TIME. There was nothing he couldn't resolve for me and I'm immensely grateful for his brilliant mind and perfectionistic nature, and of course for the beautifully restored cover he created for me.
I had hoped to have the entire P&B Collection (the book, the yummy additional pieces and the full collection of poetry) ready for you all by now, but I didn't know what a large project the book itself would be.
So, once my beloved book of love is out in the world, I will incrementally add the rest of the collection for all my readers to enjoy.
Working on The Poet & The Butterfly has been my heaven from the very start. I am so proud of this piece and it looks and flows exactly how I want it to now, and although it is The 10 Year Anniversary Edition, it feels brand new to me.
It feels like this is what P&B was truly meant to be from the start. I just needed to grow and expand and fall in love with technology to be able to create it.
Before Facebook was what it is now, before iPhones took over and became our main way to communicate, before sexting was even a thing, before social media and before I fell in love with it, there was email. There was me at my desk repeatedly checking my hotmail on a massive, used computer, anxiously awaiting Keveen's next message.
Between the time of letter writing and this time of texting, that's what we did.
And the beauty of this book coming out now, is the nostalgia that's attached to the time before instant messaging. There's something so sweet and romantic about that.
With all my love as I impatiently wait for the UPS guy to deliver my final proof this week,
