Recently I received a wonderful compliment from one of my Instagram followers who aspires to upgrade his own marketing game. While it's always a treat to be recognized by others who share a similar passion for creating online, I honestly don't even think of myself as a marketer even though most people consider me one and ask me for marketing advice on the regular.
What I am, from my perspective, is passionate about technology and social media and I'm addicted to sharing whatever I'm pumped about in any given moment. "Marketing" is just the overflow and clearly the result.
Here's the thing: I only post when I'm genuinely excited or feel the need to share something. That's my marketing strategy. That's it. And that's why people respond. They can feel it's real and my joy makes them feel good and my pain tends to make them self-reflect.
That's all I've ever done from day one with any business I've had and with all of my writings and cyber updates. I share whatever feels true in that moment and then I let it go.
I post not for the response I might get, but for the relief I feel in getting it out. What I post has nothing to do with who's reading it or what they might think, and everything to do with me being intuitively called to express something in that particular moment.
My job is to not judge or censor what comes out. My job is to show up and deliver what's bubbling up inside of me.
This is why I can't "plan" my writings. I can only write what's true in that moment. My work and my joy is to express my heart in real time.
As for the multiple ways I deliver my work into the world (I've dabbled with everything), I simply can't help it. And there's plenty more to come and explore! I absolutely LOVE trying to figure out the best and most efficient way to share my goodies on all the mediums I can. Every site requires something unique and it keeps things fun for me!
On Instagram the other day I got 70 likes on a picture quote that only got 2 likes on Facebook even though I have double the followers on Facebook. I find these kinds of things fascinating and love discovering what resonates, what doesn't and why. Not just through my own trial and error but also through watching others and doing my own research.
Admittedly, I'm not trying to win the game (my only goal is to be and express myself fully and completely), I'm just having the time of my life playing the field and applying what I learn every step of the way. Plus, this is a game that ultimately can't be won (the dots are always moving) yet there's room for all of us to "win" in our own BIG or little way each day.
I love learning how to connect all the cyber dots as they dance around. It's an art form, really, and it's where I'm happiest creating. It's a never-ending, always-open, do-what-you-want kinda playground where I'm the queen of my castle and you are the king or queen of yours as well.
Cyberspace is big enough to contain all of our awesomeness! And it never stops! How awesome is that?
Plus, your chances never run out to get on board. Start where you are and repeat because you can't ever "get there" since there is no "there" in life or in cyberspace. I find that extraordinary, albeit sometimes overwhelming. And maybe that's why I never get bored of sharing (marketing), because I'm always learning new ways to do it and I naturally want to test it out.
I have so much more planned for Mandyland this year in terms of connecting more dots, including weekly videos. So excited for that! Admittedly I'm a few months behind on my original plan of relaunching Sexpot Studio because my health become priority #1, but as my body and my life levels out more, I'll be bringing my other cyber treats into the equation. Bit by bit. (BIG News! I just did my Sexpot Studio relaunch video [Feb 2015]! HOLLA!)
I have a beautiful vision for Mandyland this year, and I promise you will love it!
On a side note, one of the many advantages of running Too Good Triangles was learning how to market and sell a product (with my GODS & DIVAS business I sold a service), and it's certainly 100% easier to sell a yummy dessert than a life-changing course.
That being said, much (but certainly not all) of what I did with TGT can be applied to Mandyland. Eventually I will have an online shop filled with signed prints, courses, my books, ebooks and other goodies, but like I've mentioned before, my main goal right now is to get my new site complete with all of my writings. Still have a few hundred more to add from the past few years and I've been loving the journey along the way. It's nice to read past writings and see how much I've grown and what parts still need love.
And it's super fun to share my oldies with you!
