I feel like my heart and soul will thrive the most in Italy and that Montreal is just a pit stop along the way.
Italy has always felt like it could be my home despite the fact that I've never been. I felt inspired to move there two different times while I was raising Paige, but the idea dissolved pretty quickly, albeit not completely.
Do you have places that feel more "home" to you than any other? Even despite only a short stay or despite not having gone there yet?
I think that Italy will fit me more fully than any other place. Why? Because I resonate most deeply with that lifestyle, that weather, that beauty, that culture, that history, that language, that ultimate dreaminess that nothing else can compare to.
Travelling to Italy is the only travelling goal I've ever really had. Not enough to do anything about it before now, mind you, because I don't feel like I'd be bummed at the end of my life if I never went, but now that I've made the leap from Cambridge to Montreal, I think that after I learn French I want to learn Italian and then I want to explore Italy and feed all my senses.
People have described Montreal as the Canadian Europe so it's definitely a great start, but it's certainly not where I want to end up.
It's just a stop along the way to my soul's home.
