This week's win: waking up relatively pain-free today after sleeping on the floor for the week pillow-free. What inspired such a strange mission?
I've spent the past few months sleeping on an angled futon couch (hell for anyone's back) because I don't have my own room in Paige's place so a couch it is. Understandably, I got sick of the pain from a twisted spine so I went on a couch strike, researched the benefits of sleeping on the floor (you should, too!) and I went for it.
The first few nights were no better than sleeping on a couch in terms of body discomfort but I read it takes a few days for your body to get adjusted and for the spine to realign.
When I woke up this morning I was still laying on my back with a small pillow resting under my knees! That means I didn't twist and turn throughout the night like I always have in order to relieve the pain. I typically find comfort in the fetal position. A lot of people do.
FYI: I sleep on my yoga mat and use a thin sleeping bag.
So that's this week's win. A solid floor sleep and much less pain than I've had the past few months when I wake up.
Here's hoping it only gets better! If so, I'll be staying on the ground forevermore.
