This is my new friend, Clinton, reading a passage from The Poet & The Butterfly out loud at Kai's collage party. So touching.
Before meeting Clinton for the first time today, Kai had shared my book and website with him and they were both quite moved by the same part in the the story. I was curious which part, so I asked and then he found the page and read it to me.
I couldn’t believe it. It was a part that I did not include in the original. It’s only in the anniversary edition and I got tingles inside. I felt affirmed by the choice that I made to include the new parts - to add more of my voice and my perspective to this intimate piece.
And again, just like when I did the reading at my book release as per Rafael's request, I felt the same wonderful feeling knowing that my words are creating an impact and affecting the reader/listener so deeply.
Both Clinton and Kai thought the passage was intense, and I was like, "Just you wait until you read what comes after!"
Today and tonight at Kai's was so sacred in many ways. The conversations ran deep. The energy was beautiful. Our souls were dancing, and I felt right at home.
It’s an amazing feeling being with like-minded individuals. People who are kind and open and generous with who they are. Those who can see you clearly because they’re made of the same stuff as you.
I’ve been lucky enough to meet a number of gorgeous souls here in Montreal. They’re my people.
FYI: Clinton is a rapper (among other cool things), and as we were discussing love and sex, he loved something I said so much that he paraphrased it and wrote it out (pictured below). I like his version better.
The cleaner version is that one’s skills in the bedroom or one’s size mean nothing to me if my heart, mind and soul are not also touched by the individual.
I can’t be bothered if it doesn’t contain all I desire.
Or as Clinton said...
P.P.S. If an erotic, poetic, insightful and vulnerable real-life fairytale is your kinda thing, I invite you to explore my soul's offering, The Poet & The Butterfly Collection.
