Today I was hired to work at Cinema L'Amour in Montreal, and it just so happens to be a porn theatre. Do I have any reservations, judgements or qualms about that?
I sure as hell do not.
I use and enjoy porn as much as the next guy. Well, I guess that depends on who the next guy is. To each his own, as they say. And if it's consensual and it's not hurting anybody, it's all good with me.
I'll be the self-proclaimed Box Office Babe, and I'll also be taking over the cinema's social media when I officially take my weekend position at the end of the month.
To say that I'm looking forward to this gig would be an understatement. I'm totally pumped.
I only heard of this place two days ago through a friend who told me they were hiring, so I told her I was interested and the next day (yesterday) the owner called me, it went well, and today I went in et voila! I got the job and the hoodie to prove it!
There was just no way I could say no to the opportunity to work in something so unconventional and often misunderstood. I'm all about the underdogs, the underground, the underworld, as it were. The things that society publicly judges, yet privately enjoys.
I'm interested in learning about this culture. The people who partake in it. The beauty that runs through it. And of course there's beauty in a porn theatre. Beauty is everywhere.
It will be an adventure, to be sure. One that I'll proudly look back on years from now.
And really...if you never worked at Cinema L'Amour while you were a resident of the city, did you really even live in Montreal?
I think not.
With love and cheekiness,
