Four years ago today I took this photo. This picture was inspired by a man I had just touched heaven through, and I felt that he was my beloved. I had never felt so free and so me with a man. Nothing has compared before or since. He has stated the same.
This image was going to be the base of a cover of a book I was writing at the time called "36 Hours". I have a least a dozen book ideas I've started and left part way through for various reasons, and this book centered around the delicious experience that he and I shared.
Those who've listened to my Mandyland Radio podcast over the years know much of the story of he and I as things unfolded. I refer to him as "Birdman" on the show. And I've written about him twice I think. I don't write about men often on my blog, but when I do, it's because they've had a significant impact on my being and my life.
Although most of my romances are intense and short-lived and incapable of lining up a second time, I'm grateful for each of them. I'd rather have dozens of fleeting, juicy experiences than one or two extended, mediocre ones.
For me, it's all about living the moments as fully as I can. It's about saying HELL YES to whatever lights me up along the path. It's about being open to the magical unfolding of life. It's about embracing all of those those deep, rich, yummy delish moments as they present themselves to me. It doesn't mean they're here to stay. But all the more reason to devour what's been delivered.
Looking forward to yet another night of soon-to-be wonderful memories, I'm sure.
Off to meet an Irish lad.
