I love the sentiment above. What do you think? Has the freedom to make each moment of our lives public made us forget that even if no one knew about them, they'd still be just as sweet? Maybe even sweeter.
I love to capture the unfolding of my life through words and images in the same way that keeping a journal allows me to experience my life twice. It's important for me to have a record of my time here and a digital one suits me just fine. It's my modern-day photo album with personal essays intertwined.
That being said, the most beautiful moments I've had are rarely written about and cannot be captured in an image because it's an inner sacredness beyond words and pictures, like my time, conversations, and heart connections with Paige and Melanie, or with a lovely fellow, or with another beautiful friend.
The fullness is in the experience of it, and like all things, it's fleeting. But while it's happening, nothing else matters. My heart is dancing and my soul is expanding, and trying to capture it in any way is not part of the agenda.
Living it fully and deeply is the highest honour. Why dilute it with distractions?
Melanie and I talk for hours almost daily and we elevate one another to new heights with every conversation. Our inner explorations infuse all of my writings and discoveries, which could not be possible if I repeatedly interrupted our flow to try to "capture" it somehow.
I cannot take a picture of that beautiful process, but if I could, it would be the prettiest thing ever, overflowing with heart beams and sunshine, dancing kitties (and lots of them), tons of glitter, a few unicorns, a fox and a skunk, a rainbow of lemons, some silent fireworks, and more. And I'd repost that crazy image daily.
But for now, Melanie and I settle for one lovely, cozy photo per visit, and all the extraordinary moments in between are lovingly etched into our hearts forevermore.
We know exactly what we share.
And even if no one knew about our friendship, it would still be exactly what it is. Just like if you had no clue that I had a daughter, my relationship with her would still be the greatest treasure in my life.
Wishing you countless moments of beauty, but more importantly, the ability to see them as such, even and especially when no one else is looking.
