Today's session with Laurie was wonderful. Lasers and cupping and acupuncture, oh my! And don't forget the Gua Sha! Tuesday will be our last visit. Sigh. So grateful though for all the healing that has taken place since we began our journey together. My body is doing sooooo much better, my stress level has found its way down to zero thanks to all the changes I've been making in my life while getting theses treatments, and today when Laurie asked me to rate the pain in my arms on a scale from 1-10, it was a 1.
A MOTHERFUCKING ONE!
When we started together it was a 10 and I was in tears during our entire consult.
I haven't had a sad day since then.
Chronic pain is a beast. Depression is a beast. Combine the two and things really suck. I'm grateful to be somewhat free of both right now. Certain parts still hurt, but nothing is as debilitating as it once was. Things feel manageable now, whereas before working with Laurie, it all felt overwhelming and impossible to resolve.
I still have much to do for my body when we wrap up as this is only the beginning for me (I'm not completely pain-free and able to return to handstands yet and that it my goal), and I have no intentions of returning to my previous life and work, which makes me so excited for what's to come.
I didn't make the decision to slow down and heal so that I could eventually rev up and mess things up again. That Mandy is gone now. She was lovely and fun and got shit done, but this Mandy cares more about remaining stress-free and happy than anything else.
I'm off the hamster wheel for good and I love myself too much to get back on it.
With more self-love than ever before,
Laurie gave me a jar of my favourite balm this week! This is what she uses after each cupping (today I'm filled with polkadots!) and I commented on how much I love the effects of it and now I have some of my very own to use on my arms!
Ling Nam Ultra Balm is great for painful muscles, joints and bones, bruises, sprain or strain injuries, stuffy nose, headaches and more! It really heats things up once you apply it - and it definitely clears out your sinuses. It smells a lot like Vicks VapoRub, actually. I love it!
