Today I went to the jewellers to get them to remove a few links from my mother's watch and bracelet set so that it would fit me. And since the battery and one of the hands would have needed to be replaced, I decided to just have both hands removed instead. No battery required.
I don't wear watches (well, I did have a Baby G back in the day - remember those?), but I figured I would use this wrist gift as an opportunity to remind myself that now is the only time that matters. A check-in, if you will, each time that I choose to wear it.
They gave my mom two months to live and their timing was right. (Read about our last week together here). At least she got a warning. Many do not.
Who knows when any of us will go? Aren't we all so lucky to have right now? Many will not live to see tomorrow, or tonight, or even the next hour.
All we truly have is this moment. How well are you living it?
Or are you too busy being stuck in the past or fretting about the future to even notice what's in front of you?
Your entire life is made up of now moments. Nothing else.
No past. No future. Just one now and that's all there is, which means that the very best way to live your very best life is to fully embrace each moment as it arises.
What more is there to do while you're here but to live out your sacred collection of moments as richly as possible while you have them? I can't think of anything more important than that.
This moment is all there is. Make it beautiful, sweet friend.
All my love,
P.S. This lovely breakfast tray was a gift from DIVA Sabrina and although it was meant for photos, I decided to make 4 little collages instead. And now it's the perfect place for my "new to me" watch and bracelet set.
I love it, mom.
