I used to hate the holidays (read why here) but now I intentionally use them as an extended practice in abundant self-care. This is my new tradition.
Today I filled my backpack with fun books and movies from the library to enjoy over the next few days (it's our Thanksgiving long weekend), and I have already brought order to my home, bought the food that I need, and kept my weekend commitment-free so that I can spend as much time as I need filling myself to the brim with love.
This doesn't mean I won't end up dancing or celebrating life with others if that feels great to do, AND I WILL STILL SAY HECK YES TO BEING GIVEN ALL OF YOUR DELICIOUS LEFTOVERS; it just means that the first YES has been given to me and the rest will flow from that.
I'm in a beautiful place in my life where I don't have any family commitments or obligations or people in my life who "should" on me in any way. I earned that by cultivating my circle intentionally over the years and created my own family by heart with tremendous care. Now I am truly free to spend my time as I wish and with whoever I want to. No one in my life places any sort of demands on me and my time (as it should be for each of us), and I love it immensely. We all just connect or come together when it feels good to do so - for BOTH parties.
What I'm most excited about this weekend, apart from feeling good, being with nature, and napping with the kitties, is the book pictured above. As stated on the cover:
"Disarming, endearing and laugh out loud funny, The Woefield Poultry Collective is a wry look at a handful of misfits brought together by farmland only slightly more fertile than the moon. A bewitching debut as quirky and charming as they come."
I don't often read novels, but I'm all for giggles!
Wishing you everything that brings you the most joy this weekend, sweet friend.
I'm very grateful you're in my world.
All my love,
