Our Facebook newsfeeds are often filled with so much energetic pollution. I honestly feel better never looking at it but I know I continually miss out on some special things that my beloveds post because of this choice to focus on my life more than the lives of others.
For the amount of truth and beauty I find when I do skim through it though, there is probably triple or quadruple the amount of things that diminish my spirit in some way, and that's being generous. It's like a 24 hour stream of this wild mix of inspirational quotes and insanity exposed. Oh, and lots of cats. More cats, please!
We have no control over what other people post but we do have control over the quality of people we let into our cyber sphere, as well as the amount of time we spend watching other's lives unfold.
I have not gone through and purged my friend's list in forever (although I really should), and I have probably only added 20 new people in the last 2 years. That being said, I regularly unfollow people on my list if they repeatedly bitch about something or nothing in particular, or do not add quality in some way while they're online, be it by offering insight, information, cheerfulness, useful links, humour or another form of entertainment that's not based on criticizing celebrities for shit that's none of their damn business in the first place.
My cyber space. My rules.
