Paige's first pet and best friend of many years is now with us in spirit. She spent her years being adored by Paige and spent her last 30 minutes of life on July 11, 2013 purring and being sung to and snuggled by her BFF.
All of my love goes to Paige right now as she grieves her first major loss. It was not easy to say goodbye to her beloved kitty but she did it so lovingly and beautifully.
While we were there, we learned about pet fostering and Paige and I are very excited about this possibility so that we can care for more kitties and so that Zoe can have feline friends. The Humane Society would pay for supplies and vet care while we'd take care of animals that need a safe and loving transitional home before going up for adoption. It could be a litter of kittens that need love for the first 8 weeks, a kitty with a broken limb, or things like that. I had never heard of this until today and we feel like we'd be wonderful foster parents to more furry friends. We have the application and look forward to learning more about it.
I want to thank ALL of you for your kind words, loving support and gentle reminders that we did what was best for Gypsy. We have had 6 rescued kitties in total over the years and she was the first that needed to be put down.
It was a heart-wrenching decision to make so I appreciate everyone's words along the way. I gained my strength from your kindness and genuine care. Each of you helped Paige & I get through yesterday and today. Thank you for all that you offered us.
I spent the last few hours sleeping by the water and woke up feeling at peace. The hard part was seeing a being suffer. The harder part was making the decision to end the suffering. The hardest part was going through with it. But the beautiful part is knowing in my heart that I made the most loving choice.
Thanks again for all the love you sent our way, my friends. We made it through because of you.
